Bucks Officially Announce Coaching Change! Doc Rivers' Three-Year Contract Terminated Early as Team Falls Short of Expectations

According to exclusive information disclosed by ESPN senior insider Shams Charania on April 13 (Beijing time), multiple sources have confirmed that Doc Rivers is no longer serving as the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.

This season, the Bucks' performance fell far short of expectations, finishing with a 32-50 regular-season record, placing them 11th in the Eastern Conference and eliminating them from playoff contention. This marks the third time in the last three seasons that the team's management has had to search for a new head coach. Rivers spent three full seasons in Milwaukee, posting an overall coaching record of 97-103. During this period, the team made the playoffs twice but was eliminated in the first round both times; in the recently concluded season, they failed to even qualify for the play-in tournament.

Even with the early termination of their partnership, the Bucks are still required to pay Rivers his full salary for the 2026-27 season under contract terms, an amount expected to exceed $10 million.
