Tottenham Sound Out Chelsea over Mudryk and Defender Adarabioyo

Sources from inside channels indicate that Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have held initial talks with cross-city rivals Chelsea over potential moves for Mykhailo Mudryk and Tosin Adarabioyo.

Tottenham have already spent £380 million on eight new signings in this summer transfer window, but the hierarchy are clearly not content to stop there, hoping to further bolster squad depth before the window closes on Tuesday.

After failing in their pursuit of Cody Gakpo, Tottenham switched attention to Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye, but that deal has now largely collapsed. According to sources, Manchester City have reached an agreement with Everton over the transfer terms for the Senegal international.

After hitting repeated dead ends, Tottenham have turned their recruitment radar elsewhere, including a surprise enquiry for Mudryk. The Ukrainian winger was handed a 20-month ban after testing positive in a urine sample, but he is now eligible to play again after the FA reached a settlement with the World Anti-Doping Agency.

Notably, current Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi worked with Mudryk at Shakhtar Donetsk, when the Ukrainian attacker had just been promoted to the first team, before his £85 million move to Chelsea in January 2023.

Sources suggest it remains unclear what stage the talks are at, with Sunderland, Leeds United and several European clubs also joining the race for Mudryk.

Since being cleared, Mudryk has not yet been included in a single Chelsea matchday squad, with his last competitive appearance for the Blues dating back to November 2024.

In his post-match press conference after Saturday's 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle, De Zerbi revealed that Richarlison, Kevin Danso and Pape Matar Sarr have all formally submitted transfer requests.

Adarabioyo is seen as an ideal replacement should Danso leave, with Danso expected to push for a move on deadline day.

Notably, Premier League rules stipulate that a club can only loan one player from another Premier League club per transfer window. Therefore, if Spurs want to secure both Mudryk and Adarabioyo before Tuesday's deadline, they will have to make a choice—one of the deals must be completed as a permanent transfer.
