Gladbach Sinks to the Bottom After Three-Loss Streak; Ponski Sacked, 2028 Long-Term Deal Terminated Early

Borussia Monchengladbach has officially announced the dismissal of head coach Ponski and assistant coach Trulsen from their respective positions. Sporting director Schreier stated that while pre-season preparation had been positive, three consecutive losses in the opening Bundesliga rounds fell short of expectations. Ponski joined Gladbach's youth academy at the age of eight and made 54 first-team appearances, scoring one goal. He also represented Germany U21 and the Poland national team. Ponski signed as first-team head coach in November 2025, with his contract originally set to run until 2028, but the agreement has now been terminated early due to dismal results. Interim head coach Jan-Moritz-Licht and Markus-Geilhaus will assist with the transitional period.
