Patrick Vieira will officially become Senegal's head coach on September 14, replacing Pape Thiaw on a four-year contract through the 2030 World Cup. During his tenure, he will also lead the team at the 2027 and 2028 Africa Cups of Nations. The football federation plans to hold a press conference in Dakar. Vieira, who previously managed Nice and Crystal Palace, has already reached out to multiple players to prepare for the first international matchday. Goalkeeper Mendy has been informed of his exit from the national team, and the squad overhaul will be rolled out progressively. Senegal's first three matches will all be away fixtures: challenges against Mozambique and Ethiopia, followed by a friendly against Comoros in Marseille.
