According to L'Equipe, Strasbourg harbors deep resentment over head coach Patrick Rosenior being poached by Chelsea in January 2027. After taking over from Enzo Maresca, Rosenior recalled captain Mamadou Sar, who had been in superb form — the latter's contract with Strasbourg was terminated, and Chelsea handed him just 92 Premier League minutes across 900 total minutes.
