According to US reporter Evan Sidery, the NBA plans to implement major changes to the draft lottery rules for the 2027-2029 seasons. After the reform, the probability of landing a top-four pick will be as follows: the three worst teams will only have a 23.5% chance, teams ranked 4th through 10th worst will have up to 33.4%, teams ranked 11th through 14th worst will have 23.5%, and teams ranked 15th through 16th worst will have the lowest at 12.3%. This move creates a historic precedent in the league — the worst-performing teams will actually be at a disadvantage in the lottery.
