74! Treble Hero Behind the Scenes Hermann Dies of Illness After Long Battle with ALS

Former Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich assistant coach Peter Hermann has passed away from illness at the age of 74. He had been fighting amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) for an extended period. In 2013, as Jupp Heynckes' assistant, Hermann played a pivotal role in Bayern Munich's historic first-ever treble. Hermann served as assistant coach at Bayer Leverkusen from 1989 to 2008 and frequently stepped in as head coach. He joined Bayern Munich's coaching staff in 2011, and after 2013 went on to coach Dusseldorf, Schalke 04, and Borussia Dortmund, with brief returns to both Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen in between.
