Klopp Takes Personal Notice! 17-Year-Old Muhyia Choosing Germany Over Morocco, Returns to U21 National Team

Borussia Monchengladbach's 17-year-old Wael Muhyia has decided to represent Germany and will earn his first call-up to the U21 national team. According to BILD, Muhyia's family spoke with U21 head coach Antonio DiSalvo before accepting the call-up. Born in Mettmann, near Dusseldorf, to parents from Morocco, Muhyia had been closely monitored by the Moroccan Football Association. He previously began with the Germany U16 squad, making five appearances across the youth levels. On November 18, 2025, he scored against Denmark U18 to help his team secure a 2-0 victory. He had not received a call-up since then. His return to the German youth setup has also attracted the attention of Germany's new head coach Jurgen Klopp.
