Empoli Football Club

Club history: Empoli was officially established on August 15, 1920. In 1983, it was renamed Empoli FC and it has been used ever since. The team had participated in Serie A four times before. In the 1986-87 season, the team participated in Serie A for the first time and successfully avoided relegation with 23 points that season. In the 1987-88 season, it was deducted 5 points by the Football Association for match-fixing last season and was eventually relegated to the second division in last place. After that, the team fell into the abyss of the third division for nearly 7 seasons. Returned to the Second Division in the 1996-97 season and was promoted to the First Division the following year. In the 1997-98 season, they successfully avoided relegation with 37 points, but fell into the second division again the following year. After three seasons of hard work, the team was able to get the opportunity to participate in the first division for the fifth time this season. Last season, Empoli was the most offensive team in the second division, but the imbalance of offense and defense was also fully exposed in the league. Head coach Baldini is at best a second-rate coach in Italy. He spent the entire league being booed by fans. However, the team was finally upgraded successfully and he has completed his task. However, the chance of him staying in the new season is very small. On August 15, 1920, Empoli FBC Club was established. In 1931, the name was changed to AS Fascista Empoli. In 1936, the name was changed to Dopolavoro Empolese. In 1938, the name was changed to Dopolavoro Interaziendale Italo Gambacciani Sezione Calcio Empoli. In 1941, the name was changed to AC Empoli. In 1944, the name was changed to GS Azelio Landi Empoli. In 1944, it was restored to Empoli FBC. In 1983, the name was changed to Empoli FC.
