Blackpool

Blackpool Football Club (English: Blackpool Football Club) is a football club located in Blackpool, a seaside city on the Irish Sea in northwest England. It was promoted to the English Championship through the play-offs in the 2006-07 season. In the 2009-10 season, they were once again promoted to the English Football Premier League through the play-offs. This was also their first promotion to the Premier League. Blackpool was the first team to adopt orange as their home jersey, nicknamed "The Seasiders". Blackpool's greatest achievement was in what was known as the "Matthews Final" in 1953, when they trailed 1-3 at the end but eventually defeated Bolton Wanderers 4-3 to win the FA Cup. Recent Club Status On July 12, 2010, the opening match of the promotion to the Premier League was originally scheduled to be against Wigan Athletic at home. Due to fear that the expansion of the East Stand would not be completed in time, it was changed to an away game against the same opponent at the DW Stadium. On August 10, 2010, club chairman Karl Oyston confirmed that all bonuses had been distributed to the promotion heroes. On August 11, 2010, a few days before the start of the new season, the club rushed to sign five new players to supplement its strength. On August 14, 2010, the first game of promotion to the Premier League was a 4-0 away victory over Wigan Athletic. Until Chelsea defeated West Bromwich Albion 6-0 later, the team topped the list on the opening day for the first time since the 1957/58 season. Karl Oyston resigned as club chairman and director on August 18, 2010. During his tenure, he strictly controlled the club's expenditures and restricted players' weekly salary to no more than 10,000 pounds.
