Real Madrid renew Vinicius Jr contract push with €22m-a-year offer

According to sources, after the World Cup came to a close, Real Madrid have handed Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior a more lucrative renewal proposal, reopening negotiations that had been shelved for nearly a year.

In recent weeks, rumours have swirled about the future of the South American star. His current contract at the Bernabeu runs until June 2027, and Premier League heavyweights Arsenal have signalled interest in signing him.

According to insiders, Real Madrid have prepared a new deal for Vinicius with a pre-tax annual salary of around €22 million ($25 million), a figure higher than the salary conditions the club had previously put forward during negotiations over the past two seasons. However, the source did not disclose the specific length of the contract.

Even so, a clear gap remains between the latest offer from Los Blancos and the roughly €30 million salary expected by Vinicius' camp. In addition, the contract duration remains unclear.

Vinicius currently earns around €17.5 million a year, and his contract is about to enter its final year. If a renewal does not materialise, the winger will leave the Bernabeu as a free agent after next season and, from January next year, can pre-sign with other clubs.

Sources pointed out that both the player and his representatives believe turning 26 will be a crucial contract window in Vinicius' career. They insist Real Madrid should give appropriate recognition to the star attacker's contributions since joining the club in 2018, especially his goals in two Champions League finals.

Other reports suggest Real Madrid may be open to Vinicius leaving this summer if talks do not make a breakthrough. After his post-World Cup holiday, Vinicius returned to the club for training on Monday local time, underwent a medical check, and trained alongside his team-mates and new head coach Jose Mourinho.
