The Norwegian Super League consists of 16 teams and adopts a double round-robin format (each team plays against other teams twice at home and away).
Norwegian Premier League points rules
1. Each team earns 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss.
2. At the end of the league, the team with more points will be ranked higher.
3. If two or more teams have equal points, they will be ranked in the following order:
a) Goal difference
b)Total number of goals scored
c) Mutual record (points against each other, goal difference against each other, total goals against each other)
d) Neutral site play-offs (applicable only when it comes to championship ownership, European qualification and relegation)
European War & Relegation Places
(1) The league champion will participate in the Champions League play-offs next season
(2) The second place in the league will participate in the second qualifying round of the Champions League next season.
(3) The third place in the league will participate in the Europa League qualifying rounds next season.
(4) The fourth place in the league will participate in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League next season.
(5) The Norwegian Cup champion will participate in the Europa League play-offs next season (if the Champions League play-offs and Champions League qualifying rounds are not obtained)
(4) The last two teams in the league will be relegated to the First Division, and the third-to-last place will play a two-leg promotion and relegation play-off with the winner of the promotion play-off between the third and sixth place in the First Division.
