Ligue 1 Giant Strikes Big: €55 Million Locks in Ajax's Flying Winger Godts

Paris Saint-Germain continued to wave their checkbook in the summer transfer window, officially signing Belgian winger Mika Godts from Ajax. The French giants announced on Saturday local time that the 21-year-old talent has signed a five-year contract. According to Ajax, the total transfer fee includes add-ons and could reach up to €55 million (approximately $63.6 million).

After joining, Godts said he is deeply honored to join a world-class club, and he eagerly looks forward to wearing the new jersey, feeling the passion of the fans at the Parc des Princes, and promised to give his all on the pitch to repay the trust given by President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Sporting Director Luis Campos, and Head Coach Luis Enrique.

Ajax technical director Jordi Cruyff admitted that Godts has extraordinary talent and the club will miss him deeply. "We were reluctant to let him go, originally hoping he would stay for at least another season. But when you have such a stunning season for Ajax, clubs like Paris Saint-Germain naturally come with an offer."

Last season, Godts had a stunning performance in the Eredivisie, scoring 17 goals and providing 13 assists. In March, he made his national team debut in a friendly for Belgium against the United States, but surprisingly, he was left out of Belgium's World Cup squad this summer.

On the same day Godts joined, Paris Saint-Germain also announced the signing of Spanish World Cup winner Ferran Torres from Barcelona, with a total transfer fee of around €50 million (approximately $57.8 million).

Meanwhile, the future of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola remains uncertain. According to multiple media reports, Liverpool has identified the French international as their top target for winger reinforcement this summer and has initiated preliminary talks with his representatives. Sources say Barcola is eager to join Anfield, but despite communication between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, there is still a gap in the valuation of the winger. Barcola's current contract runs until 2028, and his estimated market value is around €150 million (approximately $173.5 million).
