Atletico Madrid Look to Hijack Loan Deal for Chelsea Striker from Premier League Rivals

According to the latest information from insiders, Atletico Madrid are accelerating their push to sign Nicolas Jackson on loan from Chelsea, aiming to edge out Aston Villa in the race.

To finalize the loan agreement for the Senegalese striker, Atletico sporting director Mateu Alemany has traveled to London for face-to-face talks. Jackson spent the previous season on loan at Bayern Munich.

Sources within Atletico have indicated that head coach Diego Simeone holds Jackson in high regard for his vertical thrust, physical attributes, and the experience he has gained in international competitions.

However, Aston Villa have not given up on pushing the deal forward either. Reports suggest that Villa's starting striker Ollie Watkins could be a target for Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, which may affect Villa's striker recruitment plans.

Notably, Villa's current head coach Unai Emery gave Jackson his professional debut during his time at Villarreal, and the pair have maintained a good personal relationship over the years.

Looking at Jackson's record: he made 48 appearances in Spain, scoring 13 goals; after moving to Chelsea, he scored 30 goals in 81 matches; last season he made 34 appearances for Bayern Munich, scoring 11 goals; and for the Senegal national team, he has scored 8 goals in 37 caps.

Atletico's targeting of the 25-year-old center-forward is not unrelated to Julian Alvarez's current form. The Argentine star has recently been in a slump and continues to be linked with Barcelona and Arsenal.

This Wednesday, according to overseas media reports, Barcelona have temporarily shelved their plan to sign Alvarez and shifted their attention to other striker candidates.

In addition, Alvarez's Atletico teammate Alexander Sorloth is currently struggling with injury and has been unable to train normally with the team.
