Stones Scores Decisive Goal on Debut as Inter Milan Beat Real Betis 1-0 in Final Pre-Season Friendly

John Stones became the decisive figure on his first appearance for Inter. In the pre-season friendly at San Siro, the English defender scored in the 82nd minute to decide the match, giving the Nerazzurri a 1-0 victory over La Liga side Real Betis. He left Manchester City this summer, ending a nine-year glittering spell in the Premier League, to join Inter. The 32-year-old started on the bench and came on in the 70th minute to replace Yann Bisseck, making his debut for the Nerazzurri.

Inter Milan will begin their Serie A title defense against Monza on August 22. Stones will be joined by fellow Englishman, defender Djed Spence, who joined the Nerazzurri for a transfer fee of £30 million (approximately $40.5 million). Additionally, Curtis Jones has been linked with Inter throughout the summer transfer window.

In other pre-season friendlies, Marcus Rashford played but could not prevent former Manchester United player Ruben Amorim from defeating his old club; Morgan Rodgers scored his first goal for Chelsea, while Bruno Fernandes was jeered by fans at Stamford Bridge; Brentford thrashed Eintracht Frankfurt 7-0 to end their pre-season preparations in style.
