The goal gave Betis a 3-2 away victory over Lille. This Champions League goal came just four days after Parrott's last-gasp winner against Real Madrid in league play. His reputation soared last November during World Cup qualifiers with two standout performances: at home in Dublin against Portugal, he scored twice to lead Ireland to a 2-0 victory over their opponents, with Cristiano Ronaldo receiving a straight red card in that match; then away in Budapest against Hungary, he netted a hat-trick to help his side secure a dramatic 3-2 win, including a stunning stoppage-time finish at the near post.
Three weeks ago, Parrott completed a permanent transfer to Betis for €16 million (approximately £13.7 million / $18.6 million) and has quickly proven his worth at his new club.
