Norway stuns Brazil! Haaland's brace seals historic victory, calls it greatest match in national history

In a Round of 16 clash moved to East Rutherford, New Jersey, Norway and Brazil engaged in a fierce battle. Thanks to two goals from Erling Haaland, the Nordic powerhouse defeated the Samba warriors 2-1 to advance to the quarterfinals. The Manchester City striker later excitedly declared this victory as the "greatest match" in Norwegian football history.

With his brace, Haaland's personal World Cup goal tally rose to seven, tying him with Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé at the top of the scoring charts. After this match, Norway will face the winner between Mexico and England in the quarterfinals in Miami.

Previously, Norway had not won a knockout stage match since returning to the World Cup in 1998. Against five-time champions Brazil, they extended their unbeaten run to five matches. Haaland believes this game will be etched into history.

Statistics showed Norway dominated possession with 66% and had more shots on target. Haaland was quiet before his goals, but he revealed he patiently waited for his chances.

"Every game is different," Haaland said. "We only need one or two chances; the key is to be patient and seize them when they come."
