Famous Reporter Reveals: Kawhi Heading to Toronto on Max Long-Term Deal, 2-Year $123.7M Contract Emerges

Renowned basketball reporter Shams recently brought blockbuster news on the podcast program 'The Pat McAfee Show'. According to him, trade negotiations between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Toronto Raptors for Kawhi Leonard are progressing steadily, and the superstar is highly likely to secure a max contract extension with the Raptors.

Leonard currently has just one season left on his Clippers contract, with an annual salary of $50.3 million. Per the league's Over-38 rule, the maximum extension he can sign with the team this offseason is two years, for up to $123.7 million in total.

Looking back on July 1, the Clippers and Raptors had already reached a consensus on this deal, with Leonard sent to Toronto in exchange for Brandon Ingram, Dick, and multiple draft assets — including two future first-round picks, one first-round pick swap right, and two second-round picks.

In the just-concluded 2025-26 regular season, Leonard appeared in 65 games for the Clippers, averaging 32.1 minutes per game while delivering a comprehensive stat line of 27.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.9 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game.
